Glulam is the ideal material of constructing arches and classic curves that have inspired architects throughout the ages - the process allows the natural flexibility of timber to be bonded into almost any rigid shape.

Glulam arches are a low cost, highly efficient structural form. Having the structural support prefabricated in Timberbond's factory enables easy and cost-effective construction on site. Radial arches are very effective for achieving large, unobstructed, clear span enclosures that can be used in a variety of situations - sport stadiums, halls, aircraft hangers, display buildings and churches.

Glue-laminated arches can be manufactured to almost any size and shape. The main limitation on size is transportation, however this can be over come easily by the use of a moment joint connection. Glulam is manufactured from dry timber, so it is dimensionally stable if used in a controlled atmosphere. Cross section depths can be any dimension, but sizes over 1.5 metre become more difficult to handle and finish. The width of laminations can vary from 20 mm and upwards, overall member stability and economics suggest that sizes between 100 and 200 mm are preferable, depending on structural considerations.
