Standard Glulam beams are not limited to being of a "rectangle" shape. It is not uncommon for the beam to be shaped in factory to form a tapered, notched or precut shape.

The standard size beams in New Zealand are as follow, though sizes other than listed below are easily achievable:

Width: 42mm (1.65"), 65mm (2.56"), 90mm (3.54"), 115mm (4.53"), 135mm (5.32"), 180mm (7.08"), 230mm (9.06") - larger and widths within these sizes can also be produced if required.

Depth: increases in multiples of 45mm (1.77") laminates ie: 90mm (3.54"), 135mm (5.32"), 180mm (7.08"), 225mm (8.85"), 270mm (10.63"), 315mm (12.40"), 360mm (14.27"), 405mm (15.95"), 450mm (17.72"), 495mm (19.49"), 540mm (21.26"), 595mm (23.43), etc.
